排名權威且行之有年我很驚訝耶魯選擇退出排名，不僅僅是因為自從有《US News》法學院排名以來，耶魯法學院長達 30 多年都保持在全美第一；更因為近年來無論是學校官方或是學生都有批評《US News》排名的聲音，耶魯法學院院長的以上說法也早已不是新聞。事實上院長建議的「用法學院向學生提供經濟援助的金額作為指標」這點，早已被《US News》採納，但也造成了一定的負面效果。
